SS Mohegan Wreck - Cornwall & Devon

The SS Mohegan wreck, off the Manacles reef, is one of those dives that sticks with you. She's an old liner, went down back in 1898, and now she sits broken up between 8 and 20 metres. We love how accessible she is for an intermediate diver, letting you really get a feel for a proper piece of maritime history. What you'll find here is a scatter of metal, plates, and ribs that have become a home for so much life. Conger eels are a common sight, tucked into crevices, and we’ve often spotted smooth hounds cruising the edges of the debris field. Keep an eye out for the jewel anemones; they add these incredible flashes of colour against the dark metal. We’d suggest timing your dive for slack water; the currents here can pick up, making it less enjoyable to explore the deeper sections. On a sunny day, the light filtering through the kelp around the shallower parts of the wreck is just beautiful, a really ethereal experience as you glide over the remains.
