    StandoutExceptional marine biodiversity

The Stancrest, a steamship sunk in 1937, offers a substantial dive for those keen on exploring a piece of maritime history off the Cornwall coast. Lying at 46 metres, this wreck dive is one for experienced cold-water divers, demanding good buoyancy and planning. We found a good sense of its original structure still evident, with the hull providing plenty of shadowy nooks where conger eels lurk, and the occasional dogfish rests on the seabed nearby. You’ll often spot schools of pouting weaving through the skeletal framework, a testament to how quickly these wrecks become artificial reefs. It's a challenging but rewarding dive, best tackled on a slack tide to properly appreciate the scale of the vessel.
