TURQUOISE (PROBABLY) - Cornwall & Devon

The Turquoise (Probably) is exactly the kind of wreck diving we love in UK waters: a deep, intact piece of history with a decent story attached. This coaster, sailing under German command, was torpedoed in 1942. She sits upright on the seabed at 35m, her bow facing west. You’ll find the mast trailing off to starboard, and the rudder and propeller are still in place at the stern. It's a proper adventure, a dive that feels like uncovering a secret. We always suggest planning this dive for slack water; the currents can pick up here. The visibility often drops to around 5-8 metres, so bring a good torch and be prepared to get close to appreciate the detail. Look out for the resident conger eels, tucked deep within the cargo holds. They’re usually curious, sometimes even a bit cheeky. We’ve also seen some impressive bib shoals swirling around the superstructure, and the usual crab and lobster lurking in every crevice. This site suits experienced wreck divers who appreciate a challenging, rewarding dive and are happy to work for their views.
