U 390 (PROBABLY) - Cornwall & Devon

There’s something about a U-boat. That sleek, menacing silhouette, even broken and barnacled, still whispers stories. The U 390 (probably, we say, because positive ID is always a thrill) rests at 47 metres, a deep dive that rewards with real history. This isn't a casual potter, but for those who love their wrecks with a side of narrative, it’s a brilliant exploration. We love the sheer scale of the U 390. She’s over 67 metres long, stretched out on the seabed like a sleeping leviathan. You can trace her hull, peer into the torpedo tubes, and imagine the chaos that sank her back in '44. Despite the depth, the visibility here can be surprisingly good, letting the light filter down and illuminate the encrusting anemones and sponges. Our favourite part? Finding the scattered debris field around her, little pieces of the past telling a silent story. This is a dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts, divers who appreciate the sombre beauty of a historical site. Keep an eye on your bottom time; 47m can creep up on you.
