    StandoutExceptional marine biodiversity

Diving the UB 39 offers a proper slice of history off the coast of Cornwall. Lying at 47 metres, this German submarine was sunk in 1917 and remains remarkably intact, though she does show the scars of her final battle. We've often seen conger eels poking out from the torpedo tubes and a healthy population of lobsters and crabs have made the various compartments their home. It's a deep dive, making it best suited for experienced technical divers, but the reward is a quiet, contemplative exploration of a significant wartime relic. Visibility can be a bit variable, as it often is in the UK, but on a good day, the silhouette of the U-boat against the filtered light is quite striking.
