Why dive here
With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - VENUS offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The Venus wreck, a 13.4-meter fishing vessel, rests upright at a shallow 12 meters, an approachable dive for many. She went down back in '81 while under tow, and now sits largely intact, offering easy penetration into the wheelhouse and engine room for those comfortable with overhead environments. What you'll find here isn't about massive schools of fish, but rather the smaller, more intimate details: lobsters tucked into every crevice, dogfish often resting on the deck, and plumose anemones blooming from any surface that catches the current. It's a proper British wreck dive, moody and full of character, perfect for a relaxed hour underwater, especially if you're keen on macro life and a bit of history.
