Wreck of HMHS Glenart Castle - Cornwall & Devon

Table Island Reefs, now that’s a spot we’re always happy to revisit. Forget your colourful tropical reefs for a moment, this is a different kind of beauty, a rugged, wild beauty that feels uniquely Nova Scotian. The currents here can be lively, so we’d suggest this one for divers comfortable with a bit of a push and pull, but it’s worth the effort. You drop into a world of surprising textures and cool water hues. Think big boulders draped in thick kelp, swaying gently, creating corridors and hiding spots for all sorts of characters. We’ve bumped into American eels peeking from crevices, and the lumpsuckers often stick to the rocks, looking grumpy as you drift by. Our favourite encounters are often the halibut, massive flat fish that seem to materialise out of the gloom, perfectly camouflaged against the sandy patches between the rocky outcrops. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a moustache sculpin, their little facial adornments always make us smile. The kelp forests themselves are a spectacle, a cool green world that filters the Atlantic light in an almost ethereal way. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration and an appreciation for the hardy, often overlooked species of the North Atlantic.
