YVONNEIG YANNOU - Cornwall & Devon

The Yvonneig Yannou, a 12-meter fishing vessel, rests upright on the seabed at 38 meters, a relatively compact dive but one we find surprisingly engaging. Sunk deliberately as a derelict in 2001, it's had plenty of time for the ocean to reclaim it. We love dropping down onto the wheelhouse, often finding it draped in dead man's fingers and swarms of pollack. The small size means you can circumnavigate the entire wreck easily, peeking into what would have been the holds and engine room, now home to spider crabs and blennies. Our favourite part is the stern, where the propellor is usually encrusted with jewel anemones, glowing with colour in your torch beam. Visibility here can be a bit hit or miss, typical for the English Channel, but on a good day, the natural light filtering down through the green water gives it a wonderfully atmospheric feel. It’s a solid dive for those comfortable with deeper wrecks and a bit of chill, offering a good hour of exploration for experienced divers.
