ZYGOTO - Cornwall & Devon

The Zygoto, a cabin cruiser that went down in '81, sits at just 10 metres, which makes it perfect for a relaxed dive. We love this site for its accessibility and the way the wreck has settled into the seabed. You'll find it off Neville, and even though she's been down a while, there's still a real sense of her structure, particularly the stern where the propeller shaft is often visible. This isn’t a grand freighter, but a smaller, more intimate wreck dive. We find it's a fantastic spot for photographers looking for interesting light, especially on a sunny day when the sun can cut right through to the wreck. The marine life here isn't the big pelagics, but rather a charming collection of critters making homes in the twisted metal. Look for blennies peeking from crevices and the occasional dogfish tucked away. It’s a gentle introduction to wreck diving, or a lovely shallow second dive, suitable for Open Water divers. Just watch for the currents around the headland; slack water is always our pick.
