COUGIER - Scottish West Coast

The Cougier, a yacht sunk just off the Scottish west coast, isn't deep – only 9 metres at its maximum – but it’s a brilliant little wreck dive. You’re not going to be doing long deco stops here, which we love for a more relaxed outing. The visibility can be a bit variable, as it often is in these waters, but on a good day, the Cougier really shines. We always try to hit this one on a calm tide. The wreck itself is quite broken up, but its character still comes through. You can poke around the remains of the hull, and the smaller swim-throughs are a fun challenge if you’re comfortable with overhead environments. The metalwork is completely encrusted, and we've spotted everything from plumose anemones swaying gently to little dogfish tucked away in the shadows. It’s a genuinely engaging dive for anyone who enjoys exploring a bit of history without the pressure of extreme depth. We'd suggest bringing a good torch; even at 9 metres, the nooks and crannies hold their secrets until you light them up.
