CRAIGENROAN - Scottish West Coast

Craigenroan is one of those wrecks that just delivers. We’ve always had a soft spot for it, even with the sometimes-temperamental Scottish weather. Dropping onto the deck at 22 metres, you’re greeted by a fishing vessel that’s remarkably intact for something scuttled after catching fire back in ‘77. The wheelhouse is still there, albeit a bit squashed, and the holds are open, inviting a careful peek inside. What we really love about Craigenroan is the sheer density of life that has moved in. The deck is a carpet of plumose anemones, swaying gently in the current, and you’ll spot wrasse darting between the metalwork. Conger eels often peer out from under plating, and if you take your time and look closely, nudibranchs are everywhere, adding pops of colour to the monochrome steel. It's a proper wreck dive, satisfying for anyone who enjoys exploring a bit of history, and it’s typically quite sheltered from the worst of the weather, making it a reliable option.
