FV DUNAN STAR - Scottish West Coast

The FV Dunan Star is a proper charmer of a wreck, tucked away off the Scottish West Coast. We love it because it’s surprisingly intact for a wreck sitting in just 10 metres. You’re not just looking at scattered debris here; you’ll find yourself finning over a recognisable fishing vessel, her stern still reaching for the surface. It’s perfect for those days when you want a relaxed dive with plenty to see without battling depth or current. We usually drop in on a slack tide, which makes poking around the bridge and deck features a breeze. Keep an eye out for the resident crabs that scuttle through the nooks and crannies, and we’ve spotted plenty of blennies peeking out from behind the deck plates. The light penetration here is fantastic, really bringing out the greens and browns of the kelp that’s started to colonise the superstructure. It’s a site that tells a story, and we always come away feeling like we’ve visited a piece of maritime history.
