FV LOUISA (SY30) - Scottish West Coast

The FV Louisa, sitting upright in just 10 metres, is our kind of wreck dive. It’s an ideal second dive, or even a first if you’re looking to extend your bottom time and really get to know a site. You’ll find her off the west coast of Scotland, a sturdy fishing vessel lost to a fire in the early 1990s. We love how accessible she is; a proper wreck experience without the deep dive faff. She’s surprisingly intact for her age, with plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. Head into the wheelhouse for some fantastic light play filtering through the openings. The whole wreck is just carpeted in plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying gently in the mild current. Keep an eye out for wrasse darting between the metalwork and those grumpy-looking conger eels peeking out from darker corners. We often spot shore crabs scuttling over the deck. Visibility can be a bit variable here, so we’d suggest timing your dive with a slack tide for the best conditions and clearest views of her structure. It’s a superb dive for new wreck enthusiasts or photographers wanting to practice their composition.
