HARVEST HOPE (POSSIBLY) - Scottish West Coast

The Harvest Hope, or what we strongly suspect is her, offers a deep dive with a real sense of history. She lies upright at 47 metres, a fishing vessel that met a dramatic end in 1973 after an explosion. What strikes us first is the sheer impact of that event still etched into the wreck – you can almost feel the force. This isn’t a pristine wreck, but that’s precisely her charm. Parts are understandably mangled, giving the whole site a raw, visceral feel. We love exploring the bow section, often finding conger eels peering from behind collapsed plating. Look for the propeller, usually a good spot for squat lobsters. It's a deep dive, definitely one for experienced divers comfortable with limited visibility and colder temperatures. Our tip: aim for slack water on a sunny day if you can, the ambient light filters down surprisingly well, illuminating the dense covering of plumose anemones that now cloak her structure. Expect strong currents at other times; they can make the descent and ascent a bit of a workout.
