KIRSTEEN ANNE - Scottish West Coast

There are bigger wrecks on the Scottish West Coast, sure, but few pack as much punch as the Kirsteen Anne. Lying perfectly upright at 28 metres, this small fishing vessel has a real presence. We love slipping down the shotline and seeing her emerge from the green gloom, often surrounded by a swirling cloud of juvenile pollack. For such a compact wreck, the Kirsteen Anne is surprisingly intact. You can fin around her bow, peer into the wheelhouse, and imagine the last moments before she went down. The mast still stands, adorned with dead man’s fingers and hydroids, making for some excellent wide-angle shots. The resident conger eels are usually tucked away, but keep an eye out for inquisitive wrasse darting in and out of the holds. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration and a good torch. Best dived on a calm day with minimal swell for the clearest view down.
