LAURA K - Scottish West Coast

The Laura K is a personal favourite. This small fishing vessel, just 7.1 metres long, went down in 2013. It’s a relatively new wreck and sits upright in about 42 metres, making it a great dive for those comfortable with deeper profiles. We love how intact she is; you can still see the wheelhouse, the small deck crane, and all the fishing gear laid out as if the crew just stepped off. Visibility on the Scottish West Coast can be a mixed bag, but when it’s good, the Laura K is spectacular. The wreck acts like an artificial reef, drawing in all sorts of critters. We’ve seen conger eels poking their heads out from inside, wrasse darting around the superstructure, and feathery plumose anemones carpeting the rails. The hold is accessible, a tight squeeze but worth it to peer into the dark interior with your torch. It’s a quiet, contemplative dive, perfect for photographers wanting to capture a piece of recent history reclaimed by the sea. Just watch for the occasional current here; it can pick up.
