LEXINGTON (PROBABLY) - Scottish West Coast

Diving the *Lexington* (probably) off Islay is a real venture into history, and we love it for its moody, evocative atmosphere. Dropping down to 47 metres, you’re enveloped in that typical Scottish gloom, but once your torch hits the timbers, it’s magic. We’ve found the stern section particularly photogenic, with its skeletal ribs reaching out into the murk. It’s not a vibrant coral reef, obviously, but the anemones here are huge, and the lobsters practically wave at you from every crack. It’s cold, yes, but the reward is a genuinely untouched wreck, a real time capsule from 1865. Our pick for a multi-day trip, as the weather windows can be tight.
