LOUISE - Scottish West Coast

Louise is a little beauty, one of our favourite smaller wrecks on the Scottish West Coast. Dropping down to 35 metres, you'll find her sitting upright, largely intact despite her age. Built way back in 1870, she's a lighter vessel that ran aground on her way to Falkirk. We love how her age shows, the metal softened by time and the sea, giving her a real character. You can spend a good chunk of a dive poking around her deck, the bow and stern still well-defined. We often find the visibility here can be surprisingly good, especially on a calm day, allowing you to really appreciate the shape of her. Keep an eye out for the resident wrasse, they’re usually darting in and out of the nooks and crannies. We'd suggest a good dive light to really bring out the colours on the encrusting life; there’s a surprising amount of anemones and sponges clinging to her metalwork. This wreck is perfect for those who enjoy a more intimate exploration, rather than just zooming past a huge structure.
