MARSUKA - Scottish West Coast

The Marsuka isn't some grand ocean liner, but that's precisely why we love her. This yacht, sitting upright at 42 metres off the Scottish coast, is a proper technical dive, and she rewards those who make the trip. Dropping down, the visibility can be fickle, but when it opens up, the Marsuka emerges from the gloom, looking remarkably intact. We’re talking about a wreck you can really explore. Her wheelhouse is still there, and you can peer inside, imagining the frantic moments before she went down in '75. The stern is a favourite of ours; the prop is often silhouetted against the lighter water above. Look for the resident conger eels, thick as a diver's thigh, peering out from gaps in the hull. On a good day, with a bit of sunlight filtering down, the deck handrails are draped in dead man's fingers, bright orange against the dark metal. It’s a dive for those who appreciate history and the quiet beauty of a wreck settling into the seabed.
