OSPREY (FORE PART) - Scottish West Coast

The Osprey (Fore Part) is a proper little time capsule, and we love it for that. This isn't some massive freighter; it’s a small, elegant yacht, sliced clean in half in 1889. The story alone is worth the dive. We drop down onto a seabed at 26 metres, and there it is: the bow section, still recognisably a yacht, not just a pile of scrap. You can picture her sailing along before that collision. Our favourite part is poking around the bow, seeing the shape of her timbers, the curve of her hull still intact. It’s compact, so you can really take your time, letting your eyes adjust to the gloom and searching the nooks and crannies. Squat lobsters are regulars here, along with velvet crabs scuttling over the plating. Anemones flower from every available surface, and the occasional dogfish might be tucked up underneath a plate. It’s a quiet, contemplative dive, perfect for those who appreciate maritime history and the slow reclamation of the sea. Don't expect dramatic swim-throughs, but do expect a genuine connection to the past.
