SAFFRON - Scottish West Coast

The Saffron, a 9.1-metre fishing vessel that went down in 1986, sits upright on the seabed off Vatersay. It's a shallow dive, barely reaching two metres, so you’re looking at a site for a leisurely surface interval or a quick second dive. The wreck itself is a compact, easily explorable frame, with the wooden structure now well-integrated into the local ecosystem. We've often found small crabs scuttling amongst the ribs and various wrasse darting in and out, making it a surprisingly active spot despite its size. It’s perfect for those wanting a relaxed dive with a bit of history, particularly if you’re trying out new camera settings or just enjoying the calm.
