SOUTHERN SUN - Scottish West Coast

The Southern Sun, a fishing vessel that went down in 1974 after a collision, rests just southeast of the northeast quay arm. You’ll find her easily. We’ve always appreciated a wreck that’s right there, and she’s still very much a recognisable boat, not just a pile of rubble. It’s an interesting dive for those who enjoy exploring the structure of a working vessel. Look for the pollack darting in and out of the wheelhouse, and we often see conger eels tucked into the deeper sections. It’s a site that suits divers who appreciate a bit of history along with their marine encounters, and it's quite accessible for a good look around.
