ST BRANDON - Scottish West Coast

The ST BRANDON, a collier that met its end in 1920, rests just north of the Rubha Mor peninsula. We’ve found it’s a site best explored when the weather behaves, as exposure to the open sea can make things lumpy. What’s left of the hull and superstructure is well-broken, scattered across the rocky seabed, but there’s enough remaining to get a real sense of its past. Look for the plates and ribs, now a home for butterfish and small crabs tucked into the crevices. It’s a rewarding dive for those who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a search for the wreck's character amongst the kelp.
