STRATHBEG - Scottish West Coast

The Strathbeg, a fishing vessel that went down in a gale back in '84, makes for a nice, easy dive on the Scottish West Coast. She sits upright in just 4m, so it’s a brilliant spot for a long, relaxed rummage, especially if you’re into wreck photography or just getting comfortable with overhead environments. The mast still pokes up, a ghostly finger above the surface, and below, the wheelhouse and holds are surprisingly intact. We’ve found plenty of blennies peeking from nooks and crannies, and crabs scuttling amongst the growth that’s really taken hold over the years. It’s a gentle introduction to wreck diving, perfect for knocking out a couple of dives without having to worry about currents or serious depth.
