TAYMOUTH CASTLE - Scottish West Coast

The Taymouth Castle isn't about deep exploration; it's a spread out wreck in just 18 metres of water, perfect for an extended bottom time. We've spent many an hour poking around the scattered remains of this old steamship, which went down back in 1887. You'll find ribs of the hull and bits of machinery, all well-colonised by plumose anemones and dead man's fingers. For those who enjoy a bit of history and don't mind a search, it's a really good way to spend a dive, with plenty of small crabs and blennies tucked into the wreckage. We think it’s a solid pick for divers who appreciate the subtler beauty of a well-established artificial reef.
