THALA - Scottish West Coast

Diving the Thala on Scotland’s west coast, you’re looking at a piece of wartime history. This steamship went down in 1941, and its remains are spread across the seabed at a shallow 8 metres, making it quite accessible. We’ve found the bow and stern sections are still pretty distinct, offering a good sense of the ship’s original scale, even if the midsection is more broken up. Expect to see plenty of local fish darting through the girders and a surprising amount of anemones clinging to the metalwork. It’s a good one for newer wreck divers or anyone keen on a relaxed dive with a story behind it.
