Wreck of Active - Scottish West Coast

The Wreck of Active isn’t some grand, intact liner, and that’s precisely why we love it. This isn't a deep dive, usually sitting around 15-20 meters, which means plenty of bottom time to really soak it in. You’ll find the remains of a steel steam trawler, broken and spread across the seabed, but in a way that creates incredible habitat. What makes Active special, for us, is the atmosphere. The steel plates are softened by anemones, their tentacles swaying gently in the subtle surge. Ling and conger eels peek from under twisted metal, and the whole site feels alive with the darting movements of pollock and wrasse. It’s a proper rummage dive, perfect for those who enjoy exploring every nook and cranny rather than admiring a complete structure. Our favourite moments here are always finding some obscure engine part now completely encrusted, a small universe of invertebrates thriving on what’s left of the industrial age. We'd suggest aiming for a slack tide to really enjoy picking through the debris without battling any strong flow. It’s not a challenging dive, but it rewards patience and a keen eye.
