Wreck of Aeron Queen - Scottish West Coast

The Aeron Queen isn’t about tropical colours. It’s about atmosphere, history, and that raw, wild feeling of diving a proper Scottish wreck. This isn't a sunny drift, it's a deep, dark exploration. We love it because it’s a true penetration dive if you're qualified, but even if you're not, there’s plenty to explore externally. The wreck sits upright, remarkably intact, with huge holds gaping open like empty mouths. We've spent hours just finning along the deck, peering into companionways, imagining the last moments. You'll spot conger eels poking their heads from dark corners, and enormous lobsters clinging to rusted bulkheads. Dead man's fingers coral coats sections, adding splashes of pale orange and white against the dark metal. We always feel a real sense of adventure here; it’s a site that demands respect and good technique, particularly with overhead environments. Our top tip? Go on a calm day, if you can. Less chop on the surface makes for a much more relaxed descent and ascent. It’s a site for experienced cold-water divers who appreciate history and a bit of a challenge.
