Wreck of Alexander Forbes - Scottish West Coast

Diving the *Alexander Forbes* isn’t about tropical warmth, it’s about a raw, authentic Scottish wreck experience. This trawler, sunk in 1978, lies upright and remarkably intact, making it one of our favourite West Coast penetrations. We’ve often spent entire dives just exploring the engine room, feeling the tight squeeze between machinery, or peering into the wheelhouse where the controls still sit as if waiting for a skipper. The real magic, though, is how life has colonised every surface. Look for the wolf fish lurking in crevices, their toothy grins a common sight here, and the feathery white arms of plumose anemones coating the bulkheads. Conditions can be tricky, so we always advise going on a neap tide for the best visibility and slack water, which lets you really take your time and appreciate the detail. It’s a dive for those who love history and a proper wreck challenge, not for the faint of heart or those new to overhead environments.
