Wreck of Ardenach - Scottish West Coast

The Ardenach wreck off Scotland's west coast isn't about tropical colours. It's about atmosphere, history, and the sheer grit of diving in cooler waters. We love the way the light filters through the kelp, giving the whole site an ethereal, slightly spooky feel. This isn't a deep dive, making it accessible for open water divers comfortable with cooler temperatures and a bit of current, but it’s still substantial enough to spend a decent bottom time exploring. You'll spend your dive picking through the remains of a vessel slowly being reclaimed by the sea. The ship’s ribs stand stark against the seabed, draped in dead man’s fingers and bright anemones. We always find conger eels tucked away in the darker corners, their heads poking out like grumpy old men. Keep an eye out for curious wrasse darting between the metalwork and the occasional inquisitive seal, which often makes a quick pass-by. It’s an authentic Scottish wreck experience – bracing, rewarding, and full of character. We’d suggest diving this one on a slack tide for the best visibility and easiest exploration.
