Wreck of Ben Nevis II - Scottish West Coast

The Ben Nevis II. Now this is a proper wreck dive, the kind where you really feel the history. Lying on her port side, she’s become a sprawling artificial reef, absolutely covered in anemones and dead man's fingers. We love how intact she feels, with the bow still impressive and the stern section revealing machinery and open holds begging for exploration – if you’re comfortable with penetration, that is. What makes her special for us isn't just the sheer scale, but the atmosphere. Dropping down onto her deck, the light filtering through the Scottish green water, you’ll often find schools of saithe swirling around the superstructure. Look out for the resident conger eels, they’re big here, and crab and lobster tuck themselves into every crevice. We’d suggest timing your dive for slack water; currents can pick up and navigating a wreck of this size in a rip is no fun. It’s definitely a dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts who appreciate a bit of a challenge and the colder water rewards.
