Wreck of Benghazi - Scottish West Coast

Diving the Benghazi off the Scottish West Coast isn’t your typical Caribbean jaunt. This is a proper wreck dive, moody and atmospheric, a real treat for those who appreciate history steeped in cold water. We love the way she sits, often shrouded in that classic Scottish visibility – sometimes 10 metres, sometimes 3. It makes exploring the stern section, with its intact prop and rudder, feel like you’re truly discovering something. Our favourite part has to be the midships, where the deck has collapsed, opening up access to the holds. You’ll find cod and conger eels lurking in the shadows, and we’ve spotted wolf fish tucked away in the darker corners more than once. The Benghazi suits divers with drysuit experience and a good handle on buoyancy. It’s a site that rewards patience and a head for delving into the gloom.
