Wreck of Black Eagle - Scottish West Coast

The Black Eagle wreck is pure Scottish drama, and we love it for that. Forget your sun-drenched tropical dives; this is about atmosphere, history, and that raw, wild Atlantic energy. Dropping onto her bow in often lively conditions, the sense of an old steamer truly comes alive. She’s broken in places, sure, but the engine room is still quite intact, offering fantastic swim-throughs where the light struggles to penetrate, giving the whole dive a wonderfully eerie feel. Keep an eye out for the resident wrasse patrolling the decks and the squat lobsters tucked into every crevice, particularly around the stern where the propeller blades are usually swathed in kelp. It’s a dive that demands a bit of grit, but the rewards are immense for anyone who appreciates a proper wreck with a story. Our favourite time to dive her is on a calm, overcast day; the diffused light just enhances the whole experience.
