Wreck of Calum Cille - Scottish West Coast

The Calum Cille, a wooden fishing vessel, sits upright on the seabed, her timbers still remarkably intact despite the years. Dropping onto her deck, you’re immediately struck by the silence, broken only by your own bubbles and the gentle sway of kelp. We love how the stern castle looms, creating dark, intriguing swim-throughs where cod and pollack often hold court. It’s not a deep dive, making it accessible for newer wreck divers, but the moody Scottish light filtering through the water gives it a real sense of adventure. Peer into the hold, and you’ll likely find squat lobsters tucked into every crevice, while dogfish sometimes cruise past the bow. Our favourite part has to be the mast, still standing proud and often adorned with colourful anemones – a truly atmospheric dive, especially on a calm day when the visibility stretches a bit further.
