Wreck of Champion - Scottish West Coast

The Champion wreck isn't about tropical colours. It's about history, cold water adventure, and that particular thrill of diving something truly ancient. Lying off the Scottish coast, this isn't a dive for the faint of heart, but for those who love a proper wreck, it’s a stunner. We love the sense of discovery here; the ship’s structure is still largely intact, allowing for some fascinating penetration if you're qualified and the conditions are right. You'll glide past barnacle-encrusted metal, peering into shadowy holds where crabs scuttle away from your light. The resident conger eels are truly enormous, often peeking out from behind a bulkhead or a collapsed deck section. On a good day, with visibility stretching to 10-15 metres, the sheer scale of the wreck is impressive, a dark silhouette against the greener light filtering down from the surface. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration, letting your eyes adjust to the muted tones and the surprising amount of life that now calls this iron leviathan home. We’d suggest a drysuit, and definitely a good torch, to bring out the details. If you're into maritime history and enjoy a bit of a challenge, this is definitely one for the logbook.
