Wreck of Chrysolite - Scottish West Coast

The *Chrysolite* isn't your typical tropical wreck, and that's precisely why we love it. Down on the Scottish West Coast, this old trawler, sunk in 1968, feels like a time capsule. Dropping onto her decks, often in that gorgeous green light particular to these waters, you’re greeted by a wreck that’s still remarkably intact, lying upright as if she just docked. Our favourite part is the wheelhouse, it’s still there, offering a glimpse into the past, and the stern section with its trawl gear, now a haven for local critters. We’ve seen conger eels poking heads from pipes, plumose anemones swaying in the gentle currents, and schools of pollock darting through the superstructure. It's a real explorer's wreck, perfect for those who appreciate history and the unique beauty of temperate diving. We’d suggest a good torch; even on bright days, the deeper parts and interior spaces benefit from a strong beam to pick out details. Come prepared for cooler waters, but trust us, the experience is worth it.
