Wreck of Cormoran - Scottish West Coast

The Cormoran, for us, is a proper slice of Scottish diving: moody, atmospheric, and full of character. This isn’t some brightly lit Caribbean swim-through; it’s a dark, impressive wreck that demands a certain respect. We love dropping down onto the huge boilers, feeling the chill of the water, and knowing you’re exploring a piece of history. The visibility here can be hit or miss, but even on a greener day, the wreck looms, its steel structure draped in dead man's fingers and anemones. Look for the resident conger eels tucked into shadowy compartments. We’d suggest a strong torch and good buoyancy control. It's an excellent dive for those who appreciate wrecks with a story, happy to trade bright colours for a genuinely evocative experience. It’s certainly not for beginners, but experienced cold-water divers will find it rewarding.
