Wreck of Culzean Castle - Scottish West Coast

Diving the *Culzean Castle* is a proper adventure, a real taste of Scottish wreck diving. This isn't one for the faint-hearted or those who prefer a suntan with their dives. We're talking cold water, typically choppy surface conditions, and a whole lot of atmosphere. But for those who love a bit of history and a truly immersive wreck experience, it's brilliant. The *Culzean Castle* lies broken but still recognisable, a ghost from another era. We’ve found her usually a bit silty, but on a good day, with a bit of sunlight filtering down, you can make out the distinctive lines of the old coaster. Our favourite part is nosing around the engine room, often finding a surprising number of wrasse darting between the rusting machinery. You’ll definitely want a good torch; it gets dark quickly inside, even on a brighter day. We often see plumose anemones blooming on the deeper sections, their white frills contrasting with the dark metal. Visibility can swing wildly here, so pick your day carefully; aim for neap tides if you can. It's a dive that rewards patience and a willingness to explore.
