Wreck of Elizabeth Wilson - Scottish West Coast

Diving the Elizabeth Wilson on Scotland’s west coast feels like stepping into a cold, dark history book. We love how the wreck is really coming into its own as an artificial reef, especially the way the kelp fronds sway over the deck, making it feel like a ghost ship. You’ll find a surprising amount of life clinging to the metalwork, with dead man’s fingers and anemones in shades of orange and white covering every surface. Look closely in the nooks and crannies for squat lobsters and blennies peeking out. This dive is definitely for those who appreciate the atmospheric side of wreck diving, a proper exploration in often challenging conditions. We’d suggest going at slack water, if possible, to really take your time navigating the holds and imagining the ship’s past. It’s a dive that rewards patience and a good torch.
