Wreck of Gleaner - Scottish West Coast

The MV *Gleaner*, sunk in 1960, isn't just a hunk of metal on the seabed. It’s a proper dive for those who appreciate the history and the cold water challenge. Dropping onto her bow, you immediately feel the scale; she lies intact, listing to port in about 30 metres. We love how the wheelhouse offers a great penetration, just enough to feel adventurous without needing a full cave setup, but watch for suspended silt inside. Outside, her holds are home to wrasse and blennies, and the occasional ling peeks from deeper recesses. Visibility can range wildly, sometimes a glorious 15 metres, other times a moody 5, so pick your weather window. We’d suggest a slack tide dive; currents here can be a pain if you’re not careful. It’s a solid pick for divers comfortable with colder water and deeper wrecks, offering a genuine sense of exploration.
