Wreck of Golden Harvest - Scottish West Coast

The Golden Harvest isn't just a hunk of metal on the seabed, it’s a time capsule, and one we absolutely love exploring. Lying in the chilly, green embrace of the Scottish West Coast, this trawler offers a real sense of history, a stark contrast to some of the more broken-up wrecks you find elsewhere. You can still make out the superstructure, the wheelhouse, even the gantry, which makes for some fantastic penetration if you're qualified and the conditions are right. Our favourite part has to be the stern, often swarming with pollack and cod that dart into the shadows as you approach. Keep an eye out for the plumose anemones, they coat everything in a soft, feathery white, especially around the deeper sections. It’s a site that really rewards a slower dive, letting your eyes adjust to the ambient light filtering through the kelp. We’d suggest a slack tide dive here, as currents can pick up and make getting into the more sheltered parts of the wreck a bit of a workout. It’s definitely a dive for those who appreciate wrecks with a story, and aren’t afraid of a bit of chill.
