Wreck of Graf Von Schliefen - Scottish West Coast

Diving the Graf Von Schlieffen is a proper expedition, and that’s part of the appeal. We're talking serious history here, one of the Scapa Flow German High Seas Fleet scuttlings, but she ended up on the Scottish West Coast after being towed for scrap. Dropping down onto her, the sheer scale hits you first. She's a big girl, lying on her side, and the visibility can play tricks with perception, making her feel even more immense. What we love about the Schlieffen is the penetration potential. There are multiple entry points into the engine room, though you'll want solid wreck diver skills and plenty of light. Inside, it's dark, silty, and utterly atmospheric – you can almost hear the groaning steel. Outside, the exposed girders and plates are draped in plumose anemones, creating these incredible white, feathery walls. Look closely, and you’ll spot wrasse darting between the metalwork and the occasional inquisitive conger eel peeking from a dark corner. It's a challenging dive, certainly not for beginners, but for experienced wreck enthusiasts, it’s a truly rewarding journey into a forgotten piece of naval history.
