Wreck of Guy Mannering - Scottish West Coast

There are plenty of wrecks around Scotland, but the Guy Mannering holds a special place for us. It’s a proper dive for wreck lovers, sitting upright on a sandy seabed. What we really love is how intact it remains; you can still make out the superstructure, the railings, and even the davits where the lifeboats once hung. Swim through the main holds and you’ll often find conger eels peering out from shadowy corners, their thick bodies shifting as your torch beam hits them. The water here, while rarely tropical blue, often offers decent visibility, letting you appreciate the sheer scale of the ship. We've seen schools of saithe darting around the mast, and the deck plates are often covered in bright anemones, adding a splash of colour to the grey steel. It’s a site that rewards multiple dives; each visit reveals a new detail, a different resident creature. We’d suggest going at slack water, as currents can pick up, especially around the exposed superstructure. It suits divers comfortable with colder water and wreck penetration, offering a tangible link to maritime history beneath the waves.
