Wreck of I - Scottish West Coast

The Wreck of I is more than just another submerged vessel; it’s a proper expedition, a real taste of what diving the Scottish West Coast is all about. We’ve plunged into colder waters many times, but there’s a raw, compelling beauty to this site that genuinely sticks with you. Dropping down onto her, you’re immediately struck by the sheer scale of the wreck, often cloaked in a perpetual twilight that filters through the kelp forest above. Our favourite moments here are spent nosing around the superstructure, where the twisted metal provides perfect hideouts for plump lobsters and curious conger eels. We’ve seen schools of saithe shimmer around the mast, sometimes so thick they feel like a living curtain. It’s a dive that demands respect for the elements and a good drysuit, but the rewards are immense – a true journey into history, surrounded by rugged, resilient marine life. If you’re comfortable with chillier conditions and appreciate a wreck with a story, the Wreck of I absolutely delivers.
