Wreck of Ianthe - Scottish West Coast

The Ianthe, resting at around 30 metres, is one of our favourite Scottish wrecks for a reason. There’s something special about descending onto its intact bow, feeling the cold North Atlantic water close around you, and watching the shape emerge from the green. We love how much of the vessel is still there – the bow section is impressive, cannons still sit on deck, and you can swim through various cargo holds, imagining the ship’s final moments. Keep an eye out for conger eels peering from the darker corners and the occasional monkfish camouflaged on the seabed nearby. This is a dive for experienced cold-water wreck enthusiasts who appreciate history and the atmosphere of a deep, dark resting place. Visibility can be a challenge, so pick a calm day with minimal swell for the best experience. The sheer size and historical weight of the Ianthe make it a truly compelling dive, even when the light is low.
