Wreck of Jennie - Scottish West Coast

The Wreck of Jennie isn’t just another bit of metal on the seabed, it’s a proper piece of history, and one we always enjoy revisiting. Lying broken but still very much recognisable on the Scottish West Coast, this old coaster has been down there long enough for the sea to really make it her own. You’ll find the hull draped in dead man's fingers, brilliant white against the muted colours of the steel, and the gaps in her plating are now home to squat lobsters and blennies peering out. We love finning slowly along her decks, imagining her final moments, and poking around the collapsed holds where conger eels sometimes lurk in the shadows. Visibility can be a bit hit or miss here – this is Scotland after all – but even on a murkier day, the Jennie has a real atmosphere. It’s not a deep dive, making it perfect for newer wreck divers or those who just want a relaxed potter, soaking up the history and the surprisingly rich life that thrives within her bones. Look closely in the nooks and crannies for nudibranchs, often some vibrant colours here.
