Wreck of John Craich - Scottish West Coast

The *John Craich* isn't one of those wrecks where you'll find intricate galleons or intact machinery. Instead, we see this one as a masterclass in how time and the sea reclaim steel. What remains is a broken up steam trawler, scattered across the seabed, but it’s precisely this disarray that makes it so interesting. You'll spend your dive weaving through plates and beams, seeing how the structure has completely opened up, allowing easy penetration for curious divers. Our favourite part is watching how the local wrasse dart amongst the twisted metal, and the way the dead man’s fingers carpet almost every surface, glowing in the beam of your torch. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration rather than grand vistas. We think it’s perfect for divers who appreciate the quiet history of a site and don't mind the chill of Scottish waters. Just keep an eye on the tides, as currents here can pick up, making the dive less enjoyable.
