Wreck of Lcv 798 - Scottish West Coast

We love the LCV 798 because it’s such a neat piece of history, just sitting there, waiting for you. Dropping onto the deck of this WWII landing craft, you immediately get a sense of its past life. It’s remarkably intact, especially for a wreck in these often-rough Scottish waters. You can fin around the exposed sections, peering into the cargo hold, imagining what it carried on its final voyage. The metalwork is completely encrusted with plumose anemones, creating these incredible, soft white carpets that sway gently with the surge, and we always spot crabs tucked into every nook and cranny. For divers who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of chill, it’s a genuinely evocative dive. We'd suggest aiming for slack water, as currents here can pick up, making the exploration much more comfortable.
