Wreck of Lorna E - Scottish West Coast

We love the Lorna E for its sheer accessibility and the way the Scottish weather makes you earn the dive. She sits upright, pretty much intact, and not so deep that you’re rushing decompression. Swim through the holds, which are often packed with cod and saithe, especially in summer. The stern is our favourite part; the prop is still there, usually covered in dead man's fingers, a riot of orange and white. Don't be surprised to find a curious conger eel peering out from a dark corner. This isn’t a warm water dive, expect chilly water and plan your drysuit accordingly, but the visibility can be surprisingly good on a calm day, sometimes stretching to 15 metres. We’d suggest diving this one on a slack tide, as the currents can pick up, making it a bit of a challenge to enjoy the details. It's a proper wreck dive, perfect for those who enjoy poking around history rather than just drifting over coral. You'll finish the dive feeling like you've truly earned your dram.
