Wreck of Margaret - Scottish West Coast

The Wreck of Margaret isn't about tropical fish and bath-warm water. This is a real diver’s wreck, a proper slice of maritime history sunk deep in the Scottish West Coast. We love how the hull, despite years of Atlantic battering, still holds its shape, offering swim-throughs into the cargo holds. Drop down onto the deck and you’ll often feel that distinct chill of the North Sea, but it's quickly forgotten as you spot the resident wolf fish peeking out from under a plate. Exploring the Margaret, you’ll find sections of deck machinery encrusted with anemones, their tentacles swaying gently in the subtle current. We’d suggest a good dive light to really pick out the details, like the ship’s bell (if you can find it!) or the sturdy bollards still standing proud. This wreck suits divers who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a current. Visibility can be a bit of a lottery, but even on a greener day, the sheer size and character of the Margaret make it a truly rewarding dive. Look out for the nudibranchs on the superstructure, their colours surprisingly vivid against the rust.
